LO4

Evaluation

The chosen topic for my advert is cereal; I have chosen to create my advert on the cereal brand weetos, I have chosen this because it is has a lot of different ways to sell the product and it is an easy subject to attract an audience too.
My advert is realist narrative because it has a storyline that is likely to happen; in my advert the male actor cooks breakfast for his daughter, however, the daughter looks at the meal that her father has cooked her but instead picks up a box of weetos and pours them for her breakfast.

The style of my advert is humorous as it has a high aspect of comedy, however after collecting feedback from the general public I realised that I needed to adjust the advert slightly to make sure that the audience can understand what the product in the advert is and the relevant information is, the advert needs to have a little more direct information within it such as the content of the cereal and the healthiness of it.Throughout my advertisement I use many different camera angles, mainly I used mid shot and close up shot, in my production I used 14 shots for 59 seconds of production, I varied shots between eyelevel low level and mid-level shots. When editing together my production I used simple edits, by doing this I was able to keep my production simple and believable, I added slow motion to certain section of the production for dramatic effect, but overall I used slow edits as the production is dramatic and that was the best way to put across the dramatic effect to the audience. The lighting in my production is a natural level however during filming extra light was used as the rooms were quite dark and so to create the feel of a natural daytime look, extra lighting was used. On certain sections shots had to be recreated so that the lighting was stronger and some were edited to seem brighter or darker in editing, but the majority of shots have their natural lighting throughout the advertisement.

At the end of my advertisement I added text this shows the audience what the product and tagline is. I used a bold colour and bold writing to show the audience the importance of the product, by using a dark colour and bold writing it allows the writing to stand out. My advert shows a solution to a problem in that it shows the audience that instead of eating fatty greasy food such as a fried breakfast you can change it to something a lot nicer such as weetos which are not only healthier but also more exiting and easier for young children and even teenagers. The advert shows that children would much rather eat food such as Weetos than they would eat foods such as a fried breakfast.
The benefits that the advert shows is the happiness of children when they can chose and make their own breakfast without the help of a grown-up around, this shows that kids feel stronger and happier, the advert also puts across that the cereal is much more appealing and tastier by the reactions of the actress used. The actress shows a smile when she is eating her cereal and a confused look when the friend breakfast is handed to her. The USP is that the cereal will make the child happier and healthier, this is a unique selling point for when a parent or guardian sees the advert, this will make a positive effect and make them want to buy it so that there ;child will be happier and healthier. The advert is mainly aimed at the child audience but it is also important to aim it at the parents or guardian as well, as they are the ones most likely to be buying the cereal. The result of making it child friendly but sophisticated makes it attractive to both audiences. The brand identity is that the cereal is healthier than other breakfasts, it wholesome and it is universal so appeals to all.

When looking at adverts that are similar to my product such as the weetabix advert in which the young girl starts to energetically dance once she has had a spoonful of cereal, i think that my product is more realistic to an audience as it shows how the children like the cereal and would choose it over other breakfasts rather than show that they would have a sudden spurt of energy which is unrealistic.
